Fort Wonder is offering Mastering the College Essay (May 28-31, 9 a.m.-noon) to rising seniors as they begin to think about and prepare for college applications. The personal essay, required for admission to the best colleges and universities, presents a unique writing challenge for most college-bound seniors. While English classes seldom have time to teach this difficult genre, the essay remains one of the most important writing occasions of a young person's academic career. Learn the best approaches to crafting persuasive, compelling college admission essays AND writing/revising those essays in this seminar class led by FWCD Upper School English Teachers Daniel Lancaster and Catherine Collins-Vecino, who also serves as the English Department Chair. The seminar will include visits from college admission representatives. Students will finish the week with complete drafts of at least two college essays before the busy fall semester starts. Location: Upper School Room 206; Tuition: $300. Register today on Camp Brain.
