FWCD Athletics

Fort Worth Country Day’s athletic program features Dynamic Physical Education classes (focus on fitness development, coordination, body management and game-playing) in Lower and Middle School (JK-6), the option of ballet in grade 4-12, interscholastic athletics in Middle School for students in grades 7-8, and Upper School junior varsity and 23 varsity sports that compete in the Southwest Preparatory Conference.

Participation in athletics is integral to the FWCD experience. Our student-athletes learn to win with humility, lose with grace, and compete with honor. While the Athletics Department offers many invaluable lessons, we have two primary aims in our department:

  1. To cultivate a team-first mentality
  2. To foster a competitive spirit

    Athletics Department Celebrates Spring Athletes

Congratulations to FWCD’s spring student-athletes for their commitment to and participation in sports this season. “We have come full circle since COVID-19 disrupted our lives and spring sports season last year,” noted Interim Athletic Directors Shelley Rains and James Rains in a message to Upper School families earlier this week. “It is refreshing to note that this spring, our student-athletes competed and completed a full spring schedule uninterrupted by any COVID-19 related incidents. We celebrate all of our spring athletes.” Of special note, FWCD captured North Zone titles in boys golf, softball, and baseball, and 17 students competed in the SPC track and field meet. Stellar performances by all … all season long. Click on the 2021 FWCD Upper School Spring Sports Awards link to view a recording of our Upper School Spring Sports Award Ceremony.
