Andie McGurren ’27, Fiona Morris ’26 and Chance Odom ’26 advanced to the Finalist Round of the Neighborhood Play Contest. The three students in Siouxsie Easter’s Acting class each submitted an original theatrical work (monologue, scene or short play) for consideration. McGurren titled her piece “Wronged Prisoner,” Morris’s is called “Female Rage,” and Odom titled his “Bloody Mary Digitalized.”

All 2024 finalists are invited to participate in free playwriting workshops at Stage West Theatre during Round 2. Led by Youth Playwright in Residence Rob Bosquez, Aaron Dias (Education Director), and Sarah Gay (Education Manager), these workshops are designed to provide guidance on submissions, offer suggestions for rewrites, and assist with editing. Finalists will be determined at the conclusion of the workshops, adding an exciting element to this year's contest. Four dates are available, and Round 1 winners may attend as many as they would like.

“I am so excited that these three talented students are heading to the finals,” Easter said. “This is a fantastic opportunity for them to see their words come to life.”
