Lower Schoolers took a trip around the world without even leaving campus during the 2026 Global Fashion Show, held in the Scott Theater on March 12, in honor of International Day. Organized by the Lower School Language team (Gaby Booth, Natasha Hatcher and Nevine Watkins), the event brought together more than 60 student participants representing 29 countries and every continent.

Dressed in traditional clothing that reflected their heritage and family traditions, students walked across the stage as music and narration guided the audience from one culture to the next. Each outfit told a story of history, celebration and identity, giving classmates and families a glimpse into the diverse backgrounds that make up the fabric of the FWCD community.

“Celebrating International Day is important because it reminds us that our differences make our community stronger and more beautiful,” Booth said, as she introduced the program to families in the audience. “Each outfit represents history, pride and traditions that have been passed on through generations. By celebrating together, we show respect, curiosity, and kindness toward one another, and we help our students grow into global citizens who appreciate and honor the many cultures that make up our school and our world.”

The production also relied on community support. Krystal Supper (mother of Colette ’37), Sabrina Lou (mother of Isaiah ’35), and Kamola Taflan (mother of Talya ’34) walked the runway with their students. Lower School Art Teacher Pamela Lancaster and Director of Auxiliary Programs Kelly Lanier Tierce ’93 served as narrators. Eric Tysinger was the Theatre Director, ensuring the show ran smoothly and was well lit from start to finish.

The Global Fashion Show was more than a performance. It was a visual celebration and an opportunity to honor the traditions, stories and cultures that shape FWCD.
