News Celebration

FWCD has a longstanding relationship with Fort Worth Sister Cities International, including students traveling abroad in Youth Exchange Programs, serving as Youth Ambassadors and Youth Board Members, and participating in events and summer leadership programs. On May 14, Tallula Celentano ’30, William Cobb ’31, Meghan DeLaughter ’31, Harmon Hong ’29, Helena McClanahan ’30, Taylor McMillan ’31, Sophie Ratino ’30 and Katherine Walker ’30 were honored for their creativity in connecting cultures and inspiring understanding in the Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS). This program invites young people from around the world to share their perspectives on a more peaceful and united future through original art, writing and music.

FWSCI hosted a local competition to select student entries for the Global Showcase, based on the theme “Voices of Today, Visions of Tomorrow.” All participants were celebrated and their work displayed at a reception on May 14 at the Artes de las Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts. Last year, Hong was a winner in the Global Showcase for his essay “The Sound of Silence.”
