College Counseling Workshop for Junior Parents and Guardians on August 23

The College Counseling Office invites the parents and guardians of the Class of 2027 to attend the Junior College Counseling Workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, in the Lou and Nick Martin Campus Center.
We are pleased to welcome our guest speakers, Jennifer Fowler, Senior Associate Director for National Recruitment at the University of Arkansas, along with FWCD parents who have recently navigated the college admission process.
To take full benefit of the planned programming, participants are asked to bring a charged laptop or iPad.
Originally from Jasper, Arkansas, Fowler received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas. She currently resides in Dallas as a Regional Admission Officer and has been recruiting future Razorbacks from Texas for over two decades.
The Junior College Counseling Workshop will help parents and guardians understand the roles of the students, parents and guardians in a successful college search and application process. Through the expertise of these guest speakers and the tools presented by the College Counselors, parents and guardians will understand what to expect as students move through their junior year.
The workshop also will introduce participants to the Junior College Counseling Class and Naviance, FWCD’s web-based college research tool.
Saturday’s workshop sessions, along with time for questions and conversation, will provide valuable information to parents and guardians who are new to the process, as well as to those whose students have already graduated from FWCD.
