Director of College Counseling Kristin Larsen recently welcomed Roanoke College President Frank Shushok and his wife, the Reverend Kelly Shushok, to FWCD. The Shushoks were joined by Joanne Leonhardt Cassullo ’73 of Austin, Texas. A graduate of both FWCD and Roanoke College, Cassullo serves on the college’s Board of Trustees.

During their time in North Texas, the Shushoks visited a select number of high schools, prioritizing FWCD because of its talented students and Cassullo’s longstanding affection for her alma mater. While on campus, they met with School administrators and faculty, observed students in classrooms and studios, and Cassullo reflected on her own time as a Falcon.

“In so many ways, my Roanoke College experience felt like a natural extension of my time at Country Day,” Cassullo said.

Located in Salem, Virginia, Roanoke College was founded in 1842 and is known for its integrative learning approach and more than 100 areas of study across disciplines, including business, analytics, the arts and the social sciences. The college competes in NCAA Division III and offers more than 20 varsity sports, with particularly strong traditions in lacrosse and track and field, as well as past national championships in men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse.
