Flavors of the World is a delicious way for fourth graders to learn about different countries and cultures. View the slideshow. The program, sponsored by Lower School Spanish Teachers Gaby Booth and Natasha Hatcher and Lower School French Teacher Nevine Watkins, brings out the very best in FWCD families as students showcase a dish from their family’s country of origin or another country to which they are connected.

This year, 81 students tasted delectable dishes from around the world. After the tastings, they filled out a form to check off what they had tried and provide their thoughts about the food they had sampled.

This year’s dishes included Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus iced tea), Salsa and Chips, Elotes, Shrimp Cocktail and Conchas (Mexico); Mizeria (Poland); Kafta Sandwich Bites and Lebanese Rice Pudding (Lebanon); Shortbread (Scotland); Croquetas de Jamon  (Spain); Shortbread  Cookies (England); Swedish Meatballs and Swedish Pancakes (Sweden); Arepas and Bocadillos con Queso (Colombia); Pani Poori and Mango Lassi (India); Black Eye Peas (North America); Red Chile Enchiladas and Navajo Frybread (Navajo Nation); Maamoul (Lebanon); German Apple Cake and Beef Bratwurst (Germany); Adass Palo (Iran); Tostones (Puerto Rico); and Strawberry Fool (United Kingdom).
