A Taste of Paris

The Butler Kindergarten Building’s common area was transformed into a quaint Parisian café on April 2 for a fun event that was “C’est magnifique!” FWCD Lower School French and Spanish Teachers, with the support of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, put on a stellar Taste of Paris event for the kindergarten students! Students had their pictures made, ordered croissants from the boulangerie, and completed fun French activities with Middle School French student leaders and teachers.
Lower School French Teacher Névine Watkins especially poured her heart and soul into the event and the decorations to allow the students to have the joy of ordering their goûter. The students all wore stripes to school that day, were presented with a beret to wear, and proudly wore a pin of the French flag. It was truly a memorable event. View the slideshow.
"Taste of Paris is their own trip to a French bakery in Paris, just like I did when I was there age," said Watkins. "I created this event to help the students see the French language not just in the classroom, but use the skills in real life, hoping they will continue to study French after their kindergarten year."
“A huge bravo to our Lower School Language Department for hosting such an engaging and delicious cultural showcase,” said Alison Robinson, Modern and Classical Languages Department Chair. “A Taste of Paris inspires our students and engages them in the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of France, serving as a beautiful reminder of the exciting opportunities that our program offers those who study French.”
