Director of Fine Arts Chelsy Beninate was accepted into the 2023-24 NAIS Fellowship for  Aspiring School Heads program. This yearlong program includes mentorship with an experienced Head of School, lifelong relationships with a cohort of supportive peers, and intensive collaboration with members of a small group to research dilemmas confronting independent school leaders and present findings during the annual conference. Beninate will also participate in a weeklong summer institute in Atlanta of engaging learning sessions, including one that provides a comprehensive overview of what headship really looks like.

“I am humbled to be selected to this program and am thankful to Mr. Lombardi for the support required in order to participate,” Beninate said. “I met my mentor, Lisa Sun [Head of School at The Philadelphia School], and my cohort of other nationwide educators at the national NAIS conference in February. Working with peers is always a valuable learning experience and the opportunities I am gaining through this fellowship are essential. I know I have a lot to learn as an independent school educator. The fellowship concludes with a presentation at the annual conference in St. Louis in February 2024, and I am honored to represent FWCD.”
