Two Falcons Earn Winter SPC Sportsmanship Awards

Each season, the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) honors athletes and teams that embody the highest ideals of sportsmanship – integrity, respect and gracious competition. For winter 2026, Courtney Comeaux ’26 (swimming) and Reed Haven ’27 (boys basketball) were selected as the School’s individual SPC Sportsmanship Award recipients. Coaches in FWCD’s Athletic Department determined honorees.
“Reed and Courtney are both terrific kids,” said Director of Athletics Leigh Block. “They work hard and compete to the best of their abilities. Most importantly, they are awesome teammates and representatives of the School. This is a very deserving honor!”
“True sportsmanship means having the courage to do what’s right, putting the team first, and representing the Falcon community with character wherever you go,” said Shannon Allen, Swim Coach. “Courtney exemplifies these characteristics and was a steady and supportive presence on the team, leading by example and lifting up those around her. She contributed this year with spirit and grit and helped the team make its mark on FWCD history by being part of the record-breaking 200 Medley Relay team again this year. More than her accomplishments, Courtney will be remembered for her positive attitude, leadership, and the lasting example she set for her teammates.”
Boys Basketball Head Coach Mike Szabo said this about Haven: “Reed is a wonderful example of how an athlete should conduct himself. First, it starts with his great respect for his parents, his teachers, his coaches, and most importantly, his teammates. His entire approach is built on respect and sportsmanship. He competes as hard as anyone I have ever coached and his competitive edge is on display in every game. What is also on display is his respect and sportsmanship towards the officials as well as the opponents we compete against. Reed is a perfect example of what good sportsmanship should be and because of that he is a pleasure to coach.”
