FWCD's athletic fields and track projects are near completion. The varsity field hockey team has been practicing on the new field this week, and crews will finish up perimeter work over the next two weeks. Six water cannons situated around the field briefly shoot water 40 yards on this "water turf" field before practices and games. The field is perfectly flat, and the turf is very short (there is no infill), which means the ball flies all over the place, resulting in a very fast-paced game. FWCD is the first school in DFW and the third in the state of Texas to implement this field surface technology, providing a valuable site for the sport of field hockey in North Texas.

Howard Family Field is complete. There is now a rubber base on Barrett Havran Track. When the football season ends, the field will be closed for approximately two weeks while the track surface is applied, the lanes will be striped, etc. Some minor field marking corrections will be made at this time as well. The track and field construction is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving.

If you plan to use the facilities for any reason, please contact the Athletic Department and view the Howard Family Field and Havran Track Guidelines for additional information.
