And the winners are … Femi Adedokun ’22, Kaylee Chisholm ’22, Sydney Cyprian ’22, Jazmine Gomez ’22, Caroline Grebe ’23,  Dabin Lee ’24, and Rocco Leoni ’23! All seven FWCD students were honored with 2022 Slaughter Family Arts Awards (SFAA) on Sunday, April 24. In only its third year, the SFAA has given out nearly 50 awards and more than $25,000 to talented, dedicated young artists in the Fort Worth community.

Founded in 2020 by FWCD alumni Rebecca (Shaw) ’02 and J Mack Slaughter ’02, the SFAA celebrates and recognizes students with a passion for the arts. The Slaughters formed the arts organization to give back, through scholarship and performance opportunities, to students in member schools who love the arts in school or out of school. The organization operates with a parent and student board comprising leaders from its member schools.

“This is one of those moments for our students where the classroom intersects with practical, real-world experiences,” said Director of Fine Arts Chelsy Beninate. “We can’t do enough to celebrate opportunities to recognize students for the work that they do at FWCD and beyond the berm. We are proud of our nominated students and award winners.”
