The Slaughter Family Arts Awards announced their 2024 finalists on Monday, April 2, and 11 FWCD students are finalists! Congratulations to Nara Acuña Guba '25, Sean Hong '27, Sophia Jiang '26, Dabin Lee '24, Frankie Leoni '26, Carolina Murrin '24, Alex Parsons '26, Vivian Richey '25, Ashton Theesfeld '26, Jianna Turner '25, and Evelyn Young '25. Winners will be announced in a ceremony on Sunday, April 21, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the FWCD Scott Theater. Tickets to the awards ceremony can be purchased on the SFAA website. Each finalist receives a $50 scholarship; winners will receive an additional $300. 

Founded in 2020 by Rebecca and J Mack Slaughter ’02, the Slaughter Family Arts Awards (SFAA) celebrates and recognizes talent and dedication in students with a passion for the arts. The Slaughters formed the arts organization to give back to students who love the arts in school or out of school through both scholarship and performance opportunities.

The categories in which FWCD students are finalists are: 

DANCE
Dance Choreography: Carolina Murrin
Dance Performance: Vivian Richey

VOICE
Pop Music Vocal Performance: Nara Acuña Guba, Frankie Leoni

MUSIC
Classical Solo Instrumental Performance: Sean Hong, Sophia Jiang, Dabin Lee
Contemporary Solo Instrumental Performance: Frankie Leoni, Alex Parsons

VISUAL ARTS
Painting & Photography: Ashton Theesfeld
3D Art: Jianna Turner, Evelyn Young
