FWCD’s Parent Faculty Association awarded Mary Carolyn Clay Gatzke’93 with the Falcon Wings honor. Falcon Wings recognize PFA volunteers, FWCD teachers or staff who soar above and beyond the call of duty to enhance PFA programs or events, or have improved the greater FWCD community by their dedication and enthusiasm. A book will be donated to the library in her honor.

Mary Carolyn, or as many refer to her, MC, is the Queen of Communications! As both a proud alumna of the Class of 1993, and a mother to three middle schoolers, Ethan (8th grade) and Morgan and Clay (6th grade), MC keeps Falcons in the loop!

Claire Midkiff, Middle School Member at Large, had these glowing words to say about Mary Carolyn:

“Communication is so important, and MC is a master communicator when it comes to making sure parents are in the know on literally everything going on up at school. She goes above and beyond to highlight student activities and accomplishments and to help parents feel connected to everything that is happening. She is a powerhouse of information!”

Hannah Head wholeheartedly agrees, “As a lucky recipient of MC’s grade-wide communications, I agree with Claire’s sentiments. Mary Carolyn, whether through her official correspondence as a Room Representative or just in a casual group email or text, makes a giant effort to keep Falcon families informed. It might be a quick reminder that eighth graders get to wear pajamas to school as a special earned reward or a mid-summer shoutout to a classmate who medaled at the track Junior Olympics or an impromptu invitation to every eighth grade boy and their family for a pre-homecoming game dinner at the Gatzke house. MC always goes out of her way to unite, inform, celebrate, and include all of our Falcons!”

The library book dedicated in MC’s honor is Hunters of the Lost City by Kali Wallace.
