Radha Vallurupalli ’24 was honored by the Fort Worth Chapter of the National Charity League for her commitment to service. Vallurupalli received the chapter’s highest award, the Merci Award, for completing the most philanthropic service hours during the year. She served  251 hours at over 10 different organizations that support the Fort Worth community. She was also honored with the Modelette Award, presented to the top three in each class with the highest number of philanthropy hours, and the Mission Bell Award for serving 50 or more hours with one philanthropy partner. Vallurupalli served over 50 hours with each of three partners: Como Community Center, the Presbyterian Night Shelter, and the Humane Society of North Texas.

In addition to these honors, Vallurupalli earned the Yellow Rose Bouquet for serving 100 or more philanthropy hours with combined philanthropy partners and the Mother/Daughter Award for completing a combined 50 hours of philanthropy. She and her mother, Malathi Ravi, served 103.5 hours together. She also earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award – Gold – Young Adult for her service heart.

“The time I spent serving our community provided me with many opportunities to learn about the needs of our community. I was able to positively impact the lives of others and, in turn, be positively impacted by the people I met along the way, Vallurupalli said. “The National Charity League has helped me learn about the multitude of ways that we, as individuals, can affect the lives of others.”

UpperSchool Community Service Coordinator Christy Lennox is exceptionally proud of Vallurupalli’s commitment to serve. “ Growing up, I heard that we should ‘leave a place better than we found it,’’ she said. “Certainly, when we serve our community, just as Radha has been, we are doing just that. I think Radha is using her skills and service heart to do her part in positively impacting our community.
