Meet Our Students

Class of 2015-Octavio Aguayo
Octavio is a rising senior at Paschal High School. He will graduate in May 2015 and will attend a four-year university after graduating high school. Octavio’s extensive involvement with Breakthrough over the past five years has shaped him to be the leader he is now. “I like to do things as a team; whether it’s a sport or a task,” Octavio said. “I think that’s the main thing needed to be a club leader or the leader of any team or group of people. It’s also important to socialize with people of all ages, which is extremely important in a program like Breakthrough.”

Class of 2016-Gaby Godinez and Bogdana Oliynyk
Breakthrough Fort Worth students since 2010, Gaby and Bogdana are fulfilling the Breakthrough dream. Gaby came to the program from Dagget Montessori School and Bogdana from Wedgwood Sixth Grade. Both fulfilled three years in Breakthrough’s middle school component and both actively participate in Breakthrough’s Weekend C.R.E.W program. Gaby attends The Hockaday School in Dallas as a boarding student and Bogdana attends Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences in Fort Worth.

Class of 2017-Nathalie Palacios
Nathalie attends Marine Creek Collegiate High School. “I didn’t know who I was before Breakthrough,” she said. “Now, after my third summer as a Breakthrough student, I know who I am. I am a young scholar who is ready to take on challenges in academics and beyond. I am someone who cares for others and strives to seek leadership positions wherever they may be. Most of all, I am Breakthrough.”

Class of 2018-Leticia Garcia
Leticia currently attends McLean Middle School, but will be attending Paschal High School (PHS) in the fall. She loves to play soccer and even plays on a club team with two other Breakthrough students. Leticia is a known leader among her friends and cannot wait to start her high school career at PHS.

Class of 2019-Kevin Lopez
Kevin is no stranger to the Breakthrough program. His older brother, Eric, who was also a Breakthrough student, is now a junior at Baylor University. Kevin attends Daggett Montessori School and enjoys playing football, basketball and baseball. When Kevin is not studying, you can find him playing almost any sport in general.
