Maggie Murphy

Maggie served as a Breakthrough Teaching Fellow in Summer 2009 and Summer 2010. Her interest in government and politics led her to intern in the White House and later serve as an advance associate for the Obama Administration. In 2011, she worked for the Obama Campaign as a political trip coordinator for the First Lady. Currently Maggie is pursuing a career in education and has her very own classroom. She is a sixth grade social studies teacher in Dallas, Texas.

Aditya Kaddu

Originally from Utah, Aditya was first brought to Texas in 2008, when he began his freshman year at Rice University pursuing his degree in Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering and Mathematics. In 2010, he served as an 8th grade chemistry teacher with Breakthrough Fort Worth and it was the beginning of his new found journey into education. With a vision and passion for STEM education, especially in underserved communities, Aditya is now a Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus teacher at YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX.

Monica DeSantiago

Monica’s Breakthrough journey begins in the Summer of 2002 when she became a Breakthrough student. Throughout high school, Monica served as a teacher’s assistant and eventually became a teaching fellow her junior year of high school. After graduation in 2008, Monica enrolled at Brown University and continued to serve with Breakthrough Fort Worth until her sophomore year. Upon graduation, Monica served with City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley for a year and is now pursuing a career in the classroom. She is a resident with the Aspire Teacher Residency in Oakland, California and will be entering her very own classroom next school year! She credits Breakthrough for giving her the support and guidance she needed in middle school and wishes that everyone could experience a summer as a teaching fellow.
