LemonAid never tasted so sweet!

For more than a decade, philanthropic kids in the community have convened during the Colonial golf tournament to help raise money for various charities. You may have seen their LemonAid stand or heard them chanting on your way to the tournament. Raising over $450,000 since 2010, Colonial Kids for a Cause gather and listen to a handful of nonprofit charities each fall and then vote for a group to support that year. While always a tough decision, the Kids know that the charity they choose to support is going to change people’s lives for the better. In 2021, that choice was for the students in Breakthrough Fort Worth and making sure college-bound seniors gain the most critical tool they will need for the year ahead: laptop computers.

Breakthrough Fort Worth and Colonial Kids for a Cause would like to thank the following sponsors who helped meet a generous matching grant from the Amon G. Carter Foundation to make the dream of providing laptops for TWO Breakthrough senior classes possible:

Why Laptops?

Individual laptops are a foundational resource for today’s online world. Emailing teachers, getting assignments and instructions, doing research, submitting lessons, completing applications, etc. are requirements that all college-bound students face. Those without the personal technology to handle them are at an extreme disadvantage. Bringing folks together, Colonial Kids for a Cause is helping to ensure that every Breakthrough high school senior in the Classes of 2021 and 2022 has this valuable tool for their college journey.
