Black & White Images is an annual juried exhibition for high school photography students attending public and private schools in the DFW metroplex area. The exhibit at FWCD began 34 years ago as a forum to exchange ideas and exhibit current work with peers.

Eligibility and Limits

Students must be enrolled in a photography or photojournalism class. All images must have been produced since December 2020 for consideration and never shown in this exhibit. A maximum of two entries per student in each category is allowed. The entry fee is $1 per work (up to 60 entries per school). Images must be in black and white. Images containing naturally occurring tonalities innate to traditional processes will be considered.  Photos may be any size, however, they must be matted or mounted to a white mat board measuring either 11x14” or 16x20” to ensure consistent display of accepted work.     
  

Reception and Awards

An adjudicator will select the top images for awards in each category and offer comments at the awards reception. Please plan to attend if your work is selected for the show. All selected work will be listed in the exhibit catalog. The Best in Show will receive a purchase award. Awards will be given for first through third in each category. The top three entries and honorable mention(s)  in each category will receive certificates.

Steps to participate:

  1. Submit digital files by November 12, 2021 (details below)
  2. Receive notification of accepted work by December 1, 2021
  3. Deliver matted prints of accepted work to FWCD school by December 15, 2021
  4. Attend awards reception on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Fort Worth Country Day -- Lou and Nick Martin Campus Center, Upper School
  5. Pick-up photographs between February 21-25, 2022, or make return shipping arrangements

Please arrange drop-off and pick-up. Hand delivered work may be left with the receptionist in the Peter A. Schwartz Administration Building prior to deadline.

Digital Submission

(on or before Friday November 12, 2021)
      1. Image size = Must be at least 2500 pixels for the longest side (10 MB maximum file size)
      2. When saving in Adobe Photoshop, under the File menu, select File Info. In the Description field enter:

      3. Digital flles may be submitted via Dropbox or Google drive links. Please create a folder for each category the school is entering and mail the link to: sil.azevedo@fwcd.com by due date (Nov 12, 2021)
