FWCD Artists Appear in Inaugural Dallas Young Artist Exhibition
Three FWCD students had work on exhibit in the first Dallas Young Artist Exhibition at Blue Print Gallery in Dallas. The exhibiting artists, their families and their teachers attended the opening reception on January 17 from 6-8 p.m.
Participating schools were Booker T. Washington High School, The Episcopal School of Dallas, Fort Worth Country Day, Frisco High School, Greenhill School, The Hockaday School, J.J. Pearce High School, Jesuit College Preparatory School, Liberty High School, Parish Episcopal School, Richardson High School, Trinity Christian Academy, Ursuline Academy of Dallas, W.T. White High School and Woodrow Wilson High School.
Teachers from these schools were asked to select up to eight pieces from their top students to display in the gallery for a week. Artworks selected to represent FWCD were created by Lauren Cunningham’s painting and drawing students, seniors Peri Huling and Xitlali Castaneda, and Sil Azevedo’s photography student, junior Mia Fleischer.
The mission of the Dallas Young Artist Exhibition is to increase appreciation for high school artists from a wide range of artistic backgrounds and to promote, encourage and nurture artistic opportunities through public exhibition at the Blue Print gallery, located in the heart of uptown Dallas.
Five interior designers opened Blue Print’s doors more than seven years ago. Blue Print sells antiques, mid-century furniture, upholstery, accessories and original art. Original art has continued to be a top seller, and the demand has increased so much that on April 5, 2018, a gallery-only space opened next door.
