COVID-19 Update

Dear Breakthrough Families,

After consulting with Tarrant County Public Health and following many conversations with community leaders and other superintendents about the impact of the COVID-19 in Tarrant County, Fort Worth ISD, Fort Worth Country Day, and other Tarrant County schools have decided to extend their spring break for at least two weeks. This, of course, impacts Breakthrough and our work with all of our students, families, and volunteers. As for now, Breakthrough Fort Worth will be suspending all March activities. At the moment, all April dates have not been moved. Here is a list of upcoming events for Breakthrough that are still in place:

-April 18th: Junior Workshop at Oakridge School
-April 24th: Senior Banquet at Fort Worth Country Day
-April 25th: Super Saturday and Weekend CREW (7-10th grade)

We are aware that the closing of schools may present a challenge for many of our families. We are listening closely to next steps from Tarrant County Public Health, Fort Worth ISD, and Fort Worth Country Day, and we will be sure to follow up with all of you in the coming weeks. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Although there is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the best way to prevent infection is to take the following precautions:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
We are here for all of you! Again, if you have any follow up questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email the Breakthrough staff.

Best,
BT Staff
