Another successful trip to the Winter Park Ski Music Festival is in the books for FWCD’s Upper School Band and Orchestra! This year marked FWCD’s third consecutive appearance at the festival, with 21 talented students representing the School.

Despite performing at midnight local time (1 a.m. CST) after a 90-minute bus ride from the Denver airport, the students rocked the stage with “Danger Zone” and “Devil Went Down to Georgia.” As a result, they earned Outstanding Performance and Best in Class trophies.

Trips like this are about more than the music – they form bonds that can last a lifetime. “The value of a competition like this is team building,” said Upper School Band and Orchestra Director Eric Fuller. “Taking a trip together, having lots of fun, and performing in a new place in front of judges, builds camaraderie and a sense of team.

After performing, the students enjoyed Colorado. From skiing and snowboarding to exploring new activities together, the students embraced every moment, creating memories. Congratulations to Jackson Bloemendal ’25, Owen Bloemendal ’27, Will Bloemendal ’27, Thomas Bluntzer ’27, Joseph Brunson ’25, Chappell Carter ’25, Gracie Fuller ’26, Ethan Gatzke ’27, Luci Gonzalez ’26, Corbin Harrell ’25, Murphy Hoefer ’25, Nathan Horsch ’26, Sophia Jiang ’26, Frankie Leoni ’26, Rhodes Linker ’27, Cate Moulard ’27, Eliza Peacock ’26, Charles Portwood ’25, Jack Semple ’27, Kerri Tsai ’26 and Gage Zoota ’26 for their hard work and dedication .. and sick skiing and snowboarding skills!
