Some FWCD Summer Reading Stats

FWCD promotes summer reading as a way for students to stay ahead of the curve and avoid the “summer slide.” This summer, the Moncrief and Lower School Libraries were open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Some fun facts related to 2017 summer reading include:
  • The Moncrief Library team checked out 3,064 books!
  • Middle School students took 1,019 AR tests!
  • Middle School Librarian Kim Gardner hosted four book discussions. The books were Counting by 7s, Towers Falling, All Rise For the Honorable Perry T. Cook and Saving CeeCee Honeycutt.
  • Freshmen could choose from 13 books and sophomores, juniors and seniors could choose from 35 books for their August 31 Choice Book Discussion event.
  • Eighteen Upper School students served as discussion leaders for a choice book on August 13. Those students are highlighted in the Kudos section.
