FWCD Featured in Video Celebrating Canada

FWCD’s very own Andréanne Annis, Upper School French Teacher; Jacques Marquis, President and CEO of The Cliburn and father of William Marquis-Cartier, as well as Suzanne Purcell, former Lower School French Teacher, are featured in a video celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary. Fort Worth is sending birthday wishes to the country through an advertising, public relations and social media campaign courtesy of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau (FWCVB).  “Thanks to Rob Napier’s recent work with the Fort Worth Tourism Board, I was contacted to take part,” Annis said.

Annis, Marquis and Purcell, all born in Canada, also answered a questionnair, which can be read online at the Fort Worth Tourism Bureau. (Click on their individual names above for direct links to the Q&A).

More than 92,000 Canadians visit Fort Worth each year (two-thirds leisure, one-third business). “Canada is a priority international market for us,” said Bob Jameson, FWCVB president and CEO. “Non-stop flights from Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montreal via American Airlines, Air Canada and WestJet to DFW International Airport create even more opportunities to welcome our neighbors to the north. What better way to extend an invitation then to help celebrate such a monumental anniversary.”

The campaign will run from April through December and features a video of well-known Fort Worth musicians and personalities performing “O Canada,” the Canadian national anthem. Musicians include
Austin Allsup, a finalist on Season 11 of NBC’s The Voice; Ginny Mac; Abraham Alexander; Fort Worth Opera Singer Christina Pecce; Andréanne Annis; Nate Krieger; and Jacques Marquis, president and CEO of The Cliburn. The video also includes special birthday wishes and participation from Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, Fort Worth Bike Sharing and the Stockyards Championship Rodeo.
