Theatre

Middle School

Theatre classes begin for FWCD students in fifth grade. Students explore movement and vocal technique, as well as play creative dramatic games. This work continues through the sixth and seventh grades. In eighth grade, students choose to continue Drama class or begin Technical Theatre class. This also is the first year that students give a public performance.

Upper School

In Upper School, freshmen continue their studies in Theatre Arts. This class provides further technique for acting styles, and the students begin writing plays. Sophomore students take Acting One, and juniors and seniors take Advanced Acting. In addition to their continued studies of acting technique, all Upper School theatre students write plays to enter in a local playwriting contest, as well as the Young Playwrights Playwriting Institute in New York City. All theatre students are eligible to audition for the fall play, spring musical and the Improv Troupe. Technical theatre students enroll in the Upper School Tech class all four years.
