Summer Reading

A summer reading assignment is part of the educational program for all students at FWCD. Faculty who serve on the summer reading committees have attempted to choose books that create pleasurable reading experiences and build enthusiasm for reading. We have selected books with literary merit but have avoided titles that must be studied in class to be understood. We hope many parents will take the opportunity to read and discuss the books with their children over the summer. For more information about FWCD’s summer reading program, visit

Research Assistance

The libraries offer a wide range of research databases to meet the academic needs of FWCD students and faculty. Most databases can be accessed at School without logging in. To access databases off campus, students and faculty will need the login information available on the portal Resources Board.

Middle and Upper School students use NoodleTools to generate a works cited list of books, periodicals, database articles and websites. NoodleTools can also be used for online note-taking and outlining.

Research Projects

The librarians collaborate with teachers to provide research projects that support the curriculum and build comprehensive research skills.

Library Technology

Computers, scanners, printers and a copier are available for use by all members of the FWCD community. In addition, the Moncrief Library houses a classroom and computer lab.

Volunteers are an important part of the Moncrief Library staff. Volunteers assist with book processing, shelving and other library projects. Contact Melissa Hickman, library assistant, for more information.
