College Financial Planning & Scholarship Virtual Program

All Upper School students, parents and guardians are invited to attend College Financial Planning & Scholarship Night from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30. This virtual event, co-hosted by Trinity Valley School, will feature Daniel T. Barkowitz, who will become Assistant Vice President and Executive Director for Student Aid at Penn State on September 8.
Barkowitz brings nearly four decades of leadership experience in higher education to Penn State. Most recently, he has served as Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid and Student Employment at the University of Miami since 2022.
Throughout his career, Barkowitz also has held numerous leadership and volunteer roles within professional financial aid organizations. He is a Past President of the Florida Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and served as the inaugural Chair of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators Commission overseeing the Certified Financial Aid Administrator Program.
During the September 30 virtual program, Barkowitz will provide families with practical guidance for navigating the process of paying for college, including an overview of need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarship opportunities and application processes.
The program also will address the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which colleges and universities use to determine eligibility for federal and other forms of need-based financial aid. Some institutions also require the CSS Profile when considering students for institutional financial aid. View a list of colleges and universities that require the CSS Profile. Both the FAFSA and CSS Profile will be available online beginning October 1.
A link to join the virtual program will be shared via email closer to the event.
