Guest Artist Provides Collage Insight

Matt Cusick
, a Dallas-based collage artist, spoke with Lauren Cunningham's Painting & Drawing students about his art on Monday, January 22. He also joined students for a group critique of their collages, which they have been working on since before winter break. “My favorite part about Mr. Cusick’s visit was our critic time,” said Xitlali Castaneda '19. “I was initially very nervous, but it turned out to be really helpful, not only for me but also for my peers. I also enjoyed when he talked to us about his own process and what tools he personally used.”
Meeting, working with and learning from professionals in the field is a hallmark of a Fort Worth Country Day education. Visiting artists and hands-on opportunities allow students to gain insight about their passion and grow in their artistic endeavors.
