    Artist Featured in National Geographic Shares Work

    Sedrick Huckaby, an Associate Professor of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Arlington and father of Halle ’27 and Rising ’24, spoke to the Middle School about his paintings, which are featured in the February 2020 issue of National Geographic, on a story of Clotilda, the last known slave ship to reach the U.S. in 1860. The African-American family and its heritage has been the content of Sedrick’s work for several years.

  • Mesa Española Back in Middle School

    Eighth-graders are participating in a new weekly extracurricular language club, named Mesa Española (Spanish Table). Angeles Casanova, Middle School Spanish Teacher, serves as the club’s advisor. “The purpose of this club is to promote the oral communication aspect of a second language by providing educational opportunities outside of regular school day classroom instruction,” Casanova shared. Read more at Spanish Table.
